HomecareNet

HomecareNet's Clinical Functionality

Managing orders is easier than ever with HomecareNet. Prescription, supply and DME orders are all entered into the same system and pulled together onto a single delivery slip.

Easy Order Entry HomecareNet utilizes standard templates that allow you to instantly fill a prescription and ancillary Rxs, supplies and equipment all at once. Orders can be entered with or without a wizard that leads you step-by-step through the process. To expedite the order-entry process, you can assign label instructions and compounding instructions using pre-defined notes phrases. HomecareNet can even fill in prescription-specific values such as the amount of reconstitution fluid needed.

Time-saving Tools HomecareNet was designed to make the order-entry process as easy as possible for busy professionals. A service calendar lets you easily view and adjust administration dates for each fill. In addition, prescriptions entered by a technician can be put into a "review" state, allowing pharmacists to easily search for Rxs that require review. HomecareNet's real-time adjudication functionality allows pharmacists to submit claims as they fill prescriptions, ensuring timely payment. A comprehensive TPN calculator allows users to specify TPN volume and other key measures for use in calculating the TPN and printing labels. HomecareNet also allows you to send detailed TPN information to the Baxa compounder with the click of a button.

Certifications and Episodes Every home health patient that is admitted is automatically assigned a certification period in HomecareNet. Cert periods are used for validating visit orders and driving the effective dates of approved visits, 485s and PPS episodes. The software can be configured to check that every visit order corresponds to a cert period or is marked as an interim order that is an addendum to the orders in a 485.

Visit Order Management Visit orders are HomecareNet's reference points for scheduling: every visit you schedule will be checked to make sure it is covered by an order. You even have the ability to schedule all visits for an order at once. HomecareNet tracks precisely how many visits are ordered for each week and summarizes the total number of regular and PRN visits within the order.

If an order is added that appears to supercede an existing order, HomecareNet will ask if you wish to designate it as an Interim Order. Adding an Interim Order generate a query about adding an SCIC as required for Medicare patients.

Authorizations HomecareNet checks for authorizations before a prescription or refill is filled. If authorizations are missing or exceeded, users are warned or prevented from filling a prescription-depending on payer-specific settings that ensure warnings are meaningful.

Configured Labels Pharmacy staff can produce multiple labels for a prescription, plus create other important pharmacy documentation. HomecareNet's Configured Labels tool gives users complete control over the customization of label formats.

Medication Profile HomecareNet allows users to access patient and clinical information without leaving the Order Entry screen. The system also automatically updates the medication profile with all Rxs dispensed, plus enables users to supplement a patient profile with other medications a patient is taking. HomecareNet also incorporates Comprehensive Drug Utilization Review checking and patient education monographs from MediSpan.

HomecareNet's Visit Orders and Scheduling modules allow you to capture physician's orders for visits and manage the schedules of visits against those orders. These modules were designed to accommodate the needs of all home care organizations that visit patients, including Medicare Certified, private duty, and hospice agencies; home infusion providers; and respiratory therapy or equipment operations.

Powerful Scheduling Features HomecareNet allows users to see a calendar view of all staff schedules and rearrange them by dragging and dropping visits. Visits can be scheduled one-at-a-time or through the duration of the order. HomecareNet allows users to assign specific staff to visits or leave them unassigned. Visits can also be assigned specific times or just designated as AM or PM. The system generates warnings about authorizations, orders, staff licenses, mismatches between patient preferences and staff characteristics, or overlapping visits.

Once scheduled, visits can be updated one at a time or en masse. Cancelled visits can be tracked by reason. Once visits have occured, HomecareNet's Time Sheet Batch feature allows you to easily send charges for those visits to billing. You can search scheduled visits by staff or by date and quickly confirm that they occurred and override times or enter supplies, mileage and expenses. When the Batch is sent to billing, HomecareNet also creates episode charges for new PPS episodes.

Point of Care Integration The scheduling process is even more efficient if you use HomecareNet's point-of-care module, as visits are confirmed automatically as clinicians complete visits on their PDA devices. Every visit scheduled in the system immediately becomes available to the clinician using the PDA as soon as the device is synced to HomecareNet.

Valuable Reporting You can create a worklist of prescriptions to be refilled via an on-screen query or report. Robust reporting allows you to evaluate prescriptions filled over a certain timeframe and/or for a certain drug. HomecareNet also generates a controlled-substances report and submits it to Atlantic Associates.
